Band Info

Accept Regret has quietly become Indy's premiere acoustic rock band. Influences include everything from Staind, Sevendust, and Breaking Benjamin to Pantera, Alice in Chains, and Days of the New. Acoustic guitars and a soulful vocal are the ingredients that create this very unique acoustic sound from a library of originals and cover music.

Accept Regret has been busy playing up the music scene from Peru, IN down to Knoxville, TN. We have enjoyed meeting a ton of wonderful musicians and made a lot of new friends along the way.

Much of our show is original music and we appreciate the following establishments for supporting us all along! Gold Brick Tavern, The Vogue, The Stacked Pickle, Kips Pub, Peppers Broad Ripple, Southbound Knoxville, Boondocks Peru, ZA Upper Room, Beale Street, Ugly Monkey, Birdys, Sports Page Lounge, Alvins Bar & Grill, Rock House, Peppers Brew Garden, Joes Grill 82nd, Joes Grill 2, Rockafellows Hall, Visions Sports Pub, Kellys Pub II, Bubbaz Shadeland & Plainfield, Indys Jukebox, Bottoms Up Linton, Ro's Greenfield, S&H Campground, Manleys Irish Mutt, Hilltop Tavern, O'Brien Sports Pub Evansville, Melody Inn, Good Times Bar and Grill, The Sawmill, Krazy Street, Route 67 and Snafu Saloon.

Rob Hawkins - Guitar and Vocals
I am a Hoosier born and raised on the east side of Indianapolis. After my father passed away when I was 8 months old, I was raised by my mother, sister and other close family members and friends. I grew up with music in my family so it was easy to just fall in line Rob Hawkins - Guitar and Vocals and continue what my family had already been doing for many years (my dad was a singer too). I got my first guitar (Washburn) when I was 10 years old and that's when I really started playing on a regular basis. I performed my first show when I was 16 at my Grandmas wedding. I then began writing original songs and got more into singing too. I was pretty much a solo act until I hit bar age and began going out to open stages and meeting people in the local Indianapolis music scene. My first serious band was Driven Under with guitarist Gary Beeler. We attended open mic nights, performed shows, and won a battle of the bands at the Goenpalooza Festival in Anderson Indiana as a two piece in the summer of 2009. I also played bass with another local band at the time called Altered Roots.

We won a battle of the bands at Birdy's Bar and Grill for Gorilla Entertainment and recorded an EP at the Lodge Studio. From there I met Josh Shinn and we began practicing as a two piece and performed our first show as Accept Regret for New Years 2010. Since then we have been through a couple different combinations of members, but are now back to our roots as an acoustic duo. Besides music, I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in business from Ivy Tech. I am a family man with one son. Besides school and my family, music is everything to me. I'm 29 years old now and looking forward to what music has in store for my future.

Josh Shinn - Guitar
I was born and raised on the east side of Indianapolis, Since I come from a family of musicians, it was really easy to fall in love with music at a young age. I started playing drums at age seven. One of my dad's friends owned a famous drum shop, so Josh Shinn - GuitarI was lucky enough to meet and hang out with a lot of world class drummers including Eric Singer, Kenny Aronoff, Dennis Chambers, and Greg Bissonette, just to name a few. My Dad (who plays drums) took me to a Kiss concert back in '96, which was my first concert. It blew my mind. That was the moment I realized that playing music was what I wanted to do. I got my first Fender Strat guitar when I was nine or ten. I started taking lessons from a phenomenal rock/blues guitarist named Vince Sanders. I played percussion in the school band through the 8th grade and then focused solely on guitar. I couldn't begin to tell you how many "garage bands" I was in over the years. All we wanted to do was make noise-- haha.

During my sophomore year, I was accepted into a three year collision repair program at McKenzie Center for Innovation and Technology. Cars have always been a passion as well. After graduating from Lawrence Central High School in 2006, I focused on a career in collision repair. I still played music as much as possible. The last band I was in prior to Accept Regret was a band called Trendkill. It was pretty much a melodic metal band. I had always been a hard rock/metal guy. I think my style mixed with Rob's is one of the things that set us apart. Aside from music, my family is #1. I have a ten-year old son. He is already playing a small Ludwig drumset. It's truly awesome to be able to play music with someone that shares the same passion and drive. We'll see what the future brings...
